I see you there judging, assigning the blame
But I know that bitterness masks your own shame
Your heart appears hardened, you look down your nose
But under that shell lies your pain unexposed
No matter what disguises you view the world through
I see what’s beneath, yes I see you

I see you there hiding, and playing it small
But I know that fear keeps you from standing tall
Your smile remains fixed, you insist you are fine
But under that lie you are aching to shine
No matter what disguises you view the world through
I see what’s beneath, yes I see you

I see you there posing, commanding all eyes
But I know it’s acceptance you’re hoping to find
Your body’s a tool, attention you crave
But under that show you just want to be saved
No matter what disguises you view the world through
I see what’s beneath, yes I see you

I see you there suffering, victim again
But I know it’s unworthiness that keeps you in chains
Your world is an enemy, nothing is fair
But under that story I see your despair
No matter what disguises you view the world through
I see what’s beneath, yes I see you

I see your disguises, for they are mine too
For showing them to me, I sincerely thank you
Let us cast off these masks, let us tremble in awe
As we stand in the fire now, naked and raw
Let us view one another with eyes of truth
Reflecting divinity, becoming the proof
Authentic and vulnerable, open and true
I see through your layers, yes I see you
